Fajitas are good 👍
Yes they are homemade ! I can tell the difference, I've lived outside this country, South of the Border, I can tell the difference! They are family owned and operated !! so I don't know what type of expert ( you think ) you are on tortillas, buddy but you have no business telling people they're not . Just the look at them you can just tell they're not store bought. I've been eating there for years can't tell you how many years !
Pheasant is not generally a South of the boarder dish and thus is not on this authentic restaurant. This is not Taco Bell.
Good authentic Mexican food! Great service! Extremely affordable- we shared a Plato of enchiladas and they were terrific!- and my bf only spent 12$ wonderful!
Very authentic Mexican food. Even the local Hispanics go there. Family is always friendly. I love their soups and daily specials. Prices are great for the value and quantity of food you are served. We travel from Parrish several times a month for a visit.
Been coming here throughout my whole life, and tonight was no different, great server, great food. And the mole enchiladas were exactly as I remembered.
Clean, authentic Mexican place. Building is very old but has lots of character. Warm chips, salsa flavorful, beer cold. Our server was very good and fast.Ordered the granda burrito, average size but very flavorful. Wasn't a fan of the rice however the beans where good.We are snowbirds and will be in area another month. We definitely will be back.
Food was excellent, service was good and speedy. Good value for the money. Doesn't look like much from the outside but I have enough for a second meal
Best salsa anywhere, my favorite
It had been a while since I’ve been here! Glad my mother decided we should stop here for a brunch. We were greeted and got our food in such good timing! Everything was lovely definitely will be stopping by more often.
The food was good and the prices were really reasonable 👌 I'll be coming back to eat here again. I also had a 6 dollar margarita and a 3.50 bud light. 😀
Good food good service, great prices
They brought out fresh warm corn chips as soon as we were seated which were great. But the salsa was very bland and watery. We had tacos and mini chimichangas which were good. There was nothing really wrong. Overall it was just an average experience.
Great food! Super friendly server!
A game one star because they were out of refried beans. You're a Mexican restaurant. You should always have refried beans.
Small restaurant with good food and service. Large portions and always ready to customize your order.
Partner had wonderful authentic Mexican lunch and loved it. With my more sensitive stomach, I had a delicious salad with romaine, grilled shrimp and avocado! Will order it again and again!. Lots of shrimp.
Great food, staff needs to wear masks to protect their employees and their customers
The spiciest sauce they had was Cholula and based on that I'm going to say it's inauthentic. The interior smelled weird so we sat outside. I had the Carne Asada and it was very fatty. The rice was amazing though. My boyfriend had the breakfast burrito with chorizo and it was bland. Didn't think that was even possible wit chorizo. The sauce that came with it was super oily, a spicy aftertaste but didn't add to the flavor at all.
Very good. Order off the speedie lunch menu. I order 4. Got plenty of food the mole sauce wow.great service.
Food is authentic and staff is always friendly. Their chips salsa is very fresh and flavorful. Breakfast is served all day as well
Fast service, good home cooked food at affordable prices. A great place for a quick lunch.
The food is great! Fast friendly service. It's great!
Got Food Poisoning my last Visit, And so did my friend I was with. Normally good place to eat. But NOT this time!!
Moved here from south Texas about a year ago and had struggled to find a good Mexican breakfast place. I'm glad to say that I found it and everything on the menu is homemade, authentic and delicious.Lunch and breakfast the portions will leave you stuffed! I had the chilaquiles breakfast plate and my son 3 egg tacos on flour tortillas. Cannot wait to come back and try more of the menu!
I triedtried this place for a second time after I had a good meal, but this time the food was way too salty to even digest and it wasn't just the refried beans the rice was too salty and the quesadilla that I've been craving was just over seasoned .. Salt is a killer and it seems like most places don't seem to take that into consideration for the customer .. You can always add more salt but you can't take it away !
We are trying new restaurants to support local businesses during the pandemic and found this great restaurant serving authentic Mexican food. We ordered chicken tacos and veggie enchiladas, which were delicious! Service (take out) was quick and very friendly.
Excellent best Mexican food in town
The food was great . I will frequent this place.
The Best Carne Guisada Hands Down. Everything Was Delicious.
Fantastic food. The atmosphere was great and their wait staff are very hospitable. I had a great experience.
Best margaritas! Love their food. Very authentic
Great place for lunch! The food is awesome! You should ask whether your dish is spicy before ordering. The staff is very friendly. I’m glad we stoped by. The restroom needs attention though. 🚽
I love this place! I'm from out of town and usually buy salsa to bring back home to another state. It's that good!!!
Food was not good at all. Cheese dip looked bubbly and creamy as if had texture. Fajitas chicken was spongy texture and tasted horrible. Place looked old and run down.
We had some flautas tonight delish. authentic mexican
Waitress was very slow, drink's mixed up. Table and floor was dirty. Food was ok.
Food was good but never got a return visit from waitress. Ran out of drink half way through meal. Got check at register.
The food was great. Authentic and positive experience.
I love mole sauce and theirs is the best!
Amazing food! Great atmosphere with a large outdoor seating area. Prices are surprising low. Staff is always friendly. I drive 30 minutes to eat here...cheap and delicious with great staff!
The chimichangas were delicious! Big portions enough for 2 people. Go support this small business. I will be coming a lot more now that I found you
We go there every January. Three yrs in a row. Good food, drink.
Amazing fork tender pork mole, always has been. I have lived locally, W Bradenton, 20+ years. I have been coming to Alvarez since I moved here. I enjoy the atmosphere, indoor or outdoors. Staff are friendly and helpful. The food is authentic and very on target flavor-wise. I have eaten at other local mexican restaurants within 15-20 mile radius and have been disappointed, repeatedly. Mostly because "authentic" mexican food gets side stepped with cheaper ingredients (ie. pre-made and/or jar salsa, bagged lettuce and canned frejoles). I have image of Pork Mole with shredded beef hard taco with grilled onions and cheese. My friend had the chicken enchiladas covered with mole sauce (photo not displayed). She was very impressed...The mole tastes like it has been cooking for hours.
food good as usual. try the beef & bean enchrito.
Great place to eat. Mexican. Great service
I loved it. When we got out of the car we heard gun shots. Chips were warm and the queso with Mexican sausage was amazing. Go with the corn tortillas because the flower ones were dry. The margaritas were a little heavy on the sweet quick mix.
I’ve been coming here for 30 years ! Amazing food just as I remember and great service ! server “ Sam “ was super nice and was very attentive I definitely will be back
If you are looking for a good Americanized Mexican food you will like this place, if you are looking for authentic Mexican food and wanting to try new flavors this is not the place for you.
If you love authentic family-style Mexican Food, you couldn't do much better than The Alvarez Mexican Restaurant.I have been eating at this location for 31 years. The Kitchen Staff and Servers still live in fear of Mama Alvarez. & that is a good thing. Then Salsa is made fresh every day, and is the best around.Try the Lunch Specials or Speedy's as they are called, or the Combination Dinner Specials. My favorite Mexican Restaurant in America, on this side of the Mississippi River.
Long wait for the food. Customer service is confused and slow but the food was good hand made tortillas and the carnitas were juice not dried
One of our favorite spots in the best salsa throughout the United States!
Always great food & great service. In compliance.
